Uche Sparks Straightforward Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their first-ever continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the appeals.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
